Into that Vast Heaving Expanse of Blackness

An entry for 's vehicle fakemon contest, they are based off of space shuttles and their support rockets! Essentially the pseudo-legends of my region.

DROCA (draco + rocket)

Base Stats: HP- 80 ATK- 70 DEF- 50 SPATK- 55 SPDEF- 60 SPEED- 40 BST=360
Abilities: Speed Boost/Light Metal*
The Boosting Pokemon
Droca glide swiftly through the barren desert air, leaving smoking trails in their wake. Droca can sometimes destroy aircraft in spectacular collisions.

Evolves at Level 55 into

DRAQOSMA (Draco + cosmo)

Base Stats: HP- 130 ATK-90 DEF- 100 SPATK- 130 SPDEF- 110 SPEED- 30 BST = 600
Abilities: Speed Boost/Light Metal*
The Warp Speed Pokemon
Draqosma live in the upper stratosphere, filtering atmospheric gases through gills in their wings to generate enormous amounts of fusion energy.

Notable Moves: Fly, ExtremeSpeed, Flame Charge, Dive, Bounce, Stored Power, Explosion, Flash Cannon, Sky Uppercut, SolarBeam, etc.



DESIGN COMMENTS: the progress of the design began as soon as I chose the subject of my fakes: space shuttles. First I thought of what abilities could work for a dragon/space shuttle, and eventually I came to Speed Boost-- imagine a rocket slowly gathering speed as it lifts off from the launch pad! However, as a Pseudo-Legendary I would need to be able to balance it out with a very low speed stat. Additionally, I had to find ways to waste stat points on Draqosma to continue to make up for the amazing ability, and I did so by giving it a bunch of special attack points but giving it a barren special movepool filled with gimmicks and weak attacks. The visual scheme of both DROCA and DRAQOSMA were drawn from the color schemes of NASA's space shuttles and support rockets on the launchpad (using a visual encyclopedia). The glowing gills on DRAQOSMA were partially inspired by Kill la Kill, and its tail, when actively gathering energy, will glow like the flame of a jet engine, while normally it would be a dull semi-opaque appendage hanging from the Pokemon's back(the form shown is its active mode). Essentially I wanted the design to show how this Pokemon could go from dormant to devastatingly powerful in seconds, changing the lighting in its area immediately as it fires up its inner energy. When not active, the DRAQOSMA's skin would in fact be a very light purple-blue, reminiscent of the white plating of space shuttles, and its gills would become a dark gray.



-So this is the beginning of my official region, the DIMONTE Region. Based off of many European countries, it would be centered around two massive mountains, one fiery and broiling and the other frosty and threatening. Off its coast would be the mysterious ALSOMA islands chain. It's been a long time since I;'ve been satisfied by a design like this.
